Alan Nelson is organizing the wine procurement team for the October 6 charity event. He needs members willing to call on a handful of wineries in Woodinville to seek donations to the Wines of Woodinville Collectors Barrels to be included in the auction this year ... as well as scout out possible winemaker dinners and wine-related donations for the live and silent auctions.
Please contact Alan if you can help. We'll take time at the August 7 meeting to hand out assignments and get the ball rolling. Sign up for this team right now!

Barrel o' Premium Wine

Imagine, a wine barrel loaded with the finest wines of the Northwest, and a selection of artisan cheeses. Your's to win by securing a raffel ticket(s) from one of your friendly Woodinville Rotarians. Tickets are just $5 each which will support this years 17th Annual Charity Fund-Raising Event, "A Celebration of Literacy". One more opportunity to Wine and Shine.
Wine barrels, especially those made of oak, have long been used as containers in which wine is typically aged. Aging in oak typically imparts desirable vanilla, butter and spice flavors to wine. The barrels that are used for storing wine can vary in size, but the most common are barriques (225 liters).
The Barrel o' Premium Wine is one of the most desirable items at Wine and Shine. Get your tickets now and take home this scrumptious selection of Northwest wine and cheese.

Wine N Shine Ramping Up: Increasing the FUN Factor

Chris and Greg are setting the stage for our annual charity event on October 6th, by inviting club members to be table hosts and to establish a theme at their tables. For instance, Evan wants his table to study the history of Scotch Whiskey, while Greg's wife want's their table to be The Secret Garden. Lot's of possibilities for table themes as we consider our favorite topic of study or a favorite piece from literature.
Auctioneer Jay Fiske will be on stage at Meydenbauer for a first floor venue with live and silent auctions in the same room. Emcee and entertainmment to be determined. Something new: Draw Down Raffle a la Fiske to raise money with a new game.
A word on procurement for the live auction: unusual items you can't purchase on your own, like trips, experiences, events, etc.
Citizen of the Year will be the "Special Guest" of the evening as determined by the selection committee working with the Woodinville Weekly. Jon B. and Marty working with Julie Bosely from the WW on criterian for nominations this summer.
